BreatheCoat, established in 2000, is a South African paint manufacturer specialising in lead free and solvent free interior paint and exterior paint products. All BreatheCoat products are free of any chemicals that may cause environmental or personal health problems. The BreatheCoat wall paint and roof paint products are based on breathable membrane technology, that is, the paint products are waterproof, however, moisture from the wall is able to evaporate - no more damp walls, no more fungi.
Originally developed by Siegfried Domröse of the University of Stellenbosch's Polymer Department, it was first employed to protect and beautify the many historic buildings in the area. National monuments received a new lease on life to preserve their looks for the future generations. Quickly it was realised that the BreatheCoat paint products, due to the health benefits enjoyed by individuals, that the products would also be perfect for home and office environments. And so in 2000 BreatheCoat was founded and now makes these environmentally friendly wall paint and roof paint products available to the general public.
The new owner of Breathecoat SA, Meyer Groenewald, with 27 years of experience in the paint and coatings industry, is certified by SAPMA (South African Paint Manufacturing Association) as a coatings technologist and has experience in product development, manufacturing, contracting and marketing.
